About Ding Herng Lee
I am Ding Herng LEE, a Taiwanese photographer working between Paris and Taiwan, exploring themes of memory, compassion, and the ethics of seeing. Rooted in a documentary sensibility yet shaped by a poetic rhythm, my practice unfolds slowly, often alongside people, rituals, and places marked by personal and cultural resonance. I approach photography not as an act of possession but as a way of being with others, allowing images to emerge through shared time and presence. My projects often combine photographs with text, weaving literary and philosophical references into narratives that reflect on existence, absence, and human connection. Influenced by both Eastern contemplative traditions and Western literary voices, I seek to trace the fragile gestures of daily life—a glance, a room, a silence—as sites of meaning. Through long-term, relationship-based work, I aim to create images that are tender yet enduring, inviting viewers into spaces of quiet attention and ethical encounter.
